Founder, El-Presidente, Leader of the Rebel Ballerinas

I completed my BA in Dance at U of C and Alberta Ballet after spending my childhood in Lethbridge. I was always in the dance studio or on the stage. It was my time dancing in Jackson, Mississippi when I was 16 that I decided Ballet was my true love. I excelled more in other forms of dance but I LOVED Ballet.

I have travelled all over the world dancing, performing, learning about movement. Through everything, I knew that no matter what, I wanted to dance forever. I wanted to have dance in my daily life and give others that want to dance the opportunity to do it in a supportive and kind environment. I wanted to create that same feeling that I had at my old dance studio, where everyone was welcome and built relationships with one another.

I found freedom in a focus on strong bodies that rebelled against societies pressures to look a certain way. I knew that dance and movement to music created a meditation in movement that made me feel beautiful and present. Thus Ballet Barre Beats was born.

Everyday I am grateful that this is my life and that I am surrounded by amazing people. My goal as a teacher is to provide consistency, give my students energy and to make them know how powerful and beautiful they are. I want my students to see themselves as I see them… strong, capable, driven.

I have created over 600 exercises that are part of the syllabus that we all teach from and my hope is that those exercises will allow my students to get to know their bodies and become powerful movers. I believe my students can accomplish absolutely anything they want to in this life. I want to be a witness to that. I hope to give them the grace, confidence and support to make it happen.

I suppose I am a boss or a leader or the owner of a business but it doesn't feel like that. I feel like I am part of a team of incredible women with common ideas about life and our bodies and movement and expectation. I feel supported and grateful for these women that are dreaming with me. I feel inspired by their hearts of gold and humbled by their willingness to believe in me. We are so blessed to have each other.

Ten years in and everything still feels fresh and inspired and exciting. Let's continue the journey together.
